Dominica has joined 185 countries from around the world to sign the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Treaty ban (CTBT).
The signing was done on May 25 by the island’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Kelvar Darroux.
In February, Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit held talks with the executive secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban treaty Organisation (CTBTO) Preparatory Commission, Dr Robert Floyd.
He later announced that that they had discussed the objectives of the CTBTO to prevent nuclear proliferation and promote disarmament to contribute to a safer and more secure world.
The CTBT is a multilateral accord that prohibits nuclear explosions in any environment for military and civilian purposes.
