Five people were shot Tuesday morning at a subway station in Brooklyn, New York, according to law enforcement officials.
At least 13 people had been taken to local hospitals by 9:45 am officials at the scene told reporters.
Reports indicate that fire personnel responding to reports of smoke at the 36th Street station found the wounded people and undetonated devices.
The reports did not specify what type of devices they were.
Preliminary information indicated a suspect fled the scene wearing a construction vest and a gas mask.
Local media reports say that trains in and out of the station had been stopped, causing major delays.
Schools in the area have been placed on lockdown.
