A national day of mourning has been declared for Friday, February 10, 2023.

Shillingford made his test cricket debut at age 32 against Pakistan in March 1977, scoring 120 in his second match at Bourda, Guyana.

He played four Tests and two ODIs for the West Indies and scored 5,449 runs in 92 first-class matches. He holds the distinction as the only Dominican cricketer to have scored a test century.

After his professional cricket career ended, Shillingford was manager and coach of the West Indies Under-19 team and selector and coach of the Windward Islands team. A stand at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau is named in his honour.

The funeral for the late Irving Theodore Shillingford will be held at St. Gerald’s Hall commencing at 3 p.m., followed by interment at the Roseau Catholic Cemetery.

The Government of Dominica expresses its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the late, Mr. Irving Theodore Shillingford.
