The police in Dominica have called on Kian Alexander, the man suspected of kidnapping a 12-year-old Kernisha Etienne from her home in Warner last Tuesday to surrender.
The appeal was made by Deputy Police Commissioner Lincoln Corbette on the weekend.
“Kian Darrell Alexander… if you are hearing us or you can get the message from us, we urge him just to surrender yourself to the police. Bring in the child and surrender yourself and get this thing over and done with. The young lady really and truly needs to be in the comfort of her family, I should say,” he said. “So if you are hearing us, we not sure whether you can hear us by whatever means, whether it’s Facebook or whatever social media platform, please surrender yourself to the nearest police station.”
Corbette added, “Or anybody that you know in the community that will take you in to the police, please surrender yourself.”
He also urged the public not to engage in jungle justice if Alexander is encountered.
“If you were to meet Kian Darrell Alexander by himself, cool yourself, take him into custody and bring him to the police,” he stated. “It makes no sense meeting with the suspect or Kian and injuring him or killing him. What happens to the young lady? So we’ve briefed, we have admonished, we warned, we advised all the civilians who are assisting us, our objective is to get the young lady. If you meet him, bring him in. Do no injure him, do not hurt him but take him in to the police so we can lead us to the young lady.”
Since the child was abducted last week, there has been no sign of her nor her abductor.
Last week the police issued a bulletin that said Alexander was wanted for attempted murder and kidnapping in relation to the incident.
The police warned that he is armed and dangerous.
