A small plane has crashed on to a major road in the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, killing at least six people.
Reports indicate it was on its way from the capital to the town of Jacmel.
Several people on the ground have been injured.
The Haitian civil aviation authority said the plane suffered engine failure and sent a distress alert at 4:04 p.m. on Wednesday.
“I extend my sympathies to the families of the victims, who have been just plunged into the greatest desolation by this new tragedy,” Prime Minister Ariel Henry wrote on Twitter.
The pilot survived the crash but died later.
