“Why is my child? Why my child,” the mother of abducted 12-year-old, Kernisha Ettiene asked continuously during an emotional radio interview with talk-show host Matt Peltier on Q95 on Thursday morning.
The search for the missing child entered its second day on Thursday after she was taken from her home on Tuesday evening by Kian Alexander of Belles, who the police described as a “suspected lunatic.”
Despite extensive searches conducted by the police and volunteers, there have been no traces of Ettiene.
“I am not feeling too well because it’s two nights and a day without food and I don’t know her condition,” the mother told Peltier. “Its not good with me at all, it’s not good. Two days without food and in the dark. I don’t know what is happening to her. Oh Lord, I don’t know why this man just leave where he lives and come after my child. I do not understand that.”
Later in the interview she added, “I am hurting, I am hurting for this child. I feel so sorry. I know she is hungry, how many days without food. Kernisha is somewhere, she is hungry. It’s hard, it’s just hard. An innocent child, why the devil had to come and tamper with my child, why is my child? Why is my child the devil sent after…?”
She descended into a torrent of tears and could not continue.
Before she broke down, she said her husband, who was attacked and chopped by Alexander before he abducted the child, was showing improvement at hospital.
“He’s doing better,” she stated. “He’s up and about, he’s sitting up, his eyes is opening, he’s talking.”
She also said the he is now beginning to eat.
